Good morning little birdie

Lifestyle. Opportunities. Wealth.

We travel and see the world. We choose where we want to move to and start a new life elsewhere.  We start up businesses and serve clients thousands of miles away. It’s all very exciting,  right?  But when there is a wealth of opportunities, choices, and places where we could choose to live, you’d think we’d all be happy, right? Well,  no.

We  won’t as we think someone else is having a better time elsewhere. We think someone else living in a better house.  We think someone else is having a better job and earning better money.  We think someone’s husband is better than ours.  And the list goes on.

We constantly make ourselves miserable by over thinking about the unknown in an endless quest to find happiness. We lie awake at night torturing ourselves over what we should do next, wondering if we’re missing out on something huge.  We feel we’re wasting our lives if we’re not doing something “more important”  or “life changing”,  just like what Rebecca did.

We also think we’re just so special than a lot of people that we should be more adventurous, thrilling, and hugely successful than them. We always want more……. and when we don’t, we become unhappy. We spend all of our time and energy on focusing on what we don’t have rather than counting our blessings.

Some of us might start thinking of moving to the “perfect” city or “perfect” town, somewhere we can call “home,” somewhere we’ll be happy. But once we’ve made that leap to the other side….. we’ve moved to where we thought the grass would be greener…… where we thought we would be happy……. we then discover that it is no different to where we were before .

Let’s start focusing on the here and now – what’s actually happening right now, at this very point in time, before its gone – at a blink of an eye and you will never have that moment again. As John Lennon once said: “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.”

Let’s just forget the “chase” for happiness, but be mindful of the present, of the here and now, of what is essential for this moment in time……. and you will appreciate the peace of mind that comes with it.

Happiness isn’t about where you live or the things you do. Happiness is a state of mind.
